この流れで質問するのは気が引けますが・・・

を見ながらHDDのマウントしました。
1回目は↑の5）のマウントする位置を/homeにしたのですが、間違っていることに気がつき
2回目に↑と全く同じやり方でやりました。
すると

ad1
ad1s1
ad1s1c
ad1s1d
のようにad1s1cとad1s1dと２つできてしまいました
&html(#) mount /dev/ad1s1c /mnt
&html(#) df | grep "/dev/ad1s1c"
/dev/ad1s1c 37846636 6 34818900 0% /mnt
&html(#) umount /mnt
&html(#) mount /dev/ad1s1d /mnt
&html(#) df | grep "/dev/ad1s1d"
/dev/ad1s1d 37846636 6 34818900 0% /mnt
とどちらも使えるようなのですが、2つあるのがちょっと気になります。
どちらか一つ消したいのですがどうしたらよいでしょう

以下のコマンドの結果も
&html(#) fdisk ad1
&html(#) disklabel ad1s1 (バージョンによっては bsdlabel ad1s1)
たぶん、ad1s1c は ad1s1 全体を指す(慣習的に全体は 'c' を使う)
ad1s1d がお目当てのパーティション。
(今回は全体を 1partition にして 'c' と 'd' が同じになったんじゃないかな?)

気にしなくて良い。そのまま、dの部分を使えば？
bsdlabelもしくはdisklabelで、
&html(#) bsdlabel ad1s1
で見ればわかる。
cを作成せずに、スライス全体を使いたいのなら、
&html(#) newfs /dev/ad1s1

仮にあるだけで 'd' が 4.2BSD(タイプのfilesystem)なわけです
ということで通常は ad1s1d をみとけばいい
